  my sister came to the society's defense on the issue of "pledged amounts" not being accurate because a realative stated that it didn't happen in her congregation.

  so i said they were mistaken, and that i had access to the letters proving it.

So I said they were mistaken, and that I had access to the letters proving it. She doubted that they were authentic. "It's from apostates!" So I found them and downloaded the PDF files and read them closely. Only in congregations without a previous loan or resolution are to take a confidential survey of individual publishers. It is great that its in the section that is NOT TO BE READ to the publishers!

  Her daughter's congregation owes a loan and had a payment amount so no survey was necessary. That's why she didn't know. So I emailed the PDF's to the relative so they can read it for themselves Do you have inactive family that are loyal even though they dont give a crap about any of the requirements the society makes? Total worldly people except that kneejerk loyalty? Its so damn annoying. How do you deal with it?

  Catching up after putting life on hold while a JW.....

  it's only been a couple of years since i fully woke up to ttatt.

  although it's....almost never too late to turn your life around, definitely the older you are, the harder it will be.

  i had put marriage, school, traveling, and 'worldly goals' aside because the end was 'just around the corner' and those things shouldn't be pursued.

  You have realized that catching up really means taking hold of a future of your own making. Not everyone will acheive all those things when they catch up, but once we take hold of our own future we will achieve similar goals. Some of us have already done things once unthinkable that our chained minds would not allow. Good for you. Everyone else? That's the challange isn't it? To take hold of your future and see what is possible for you? Good luck everyone. You can do whatever is within your grasp.

  i am not talking about posters here on this board ( otherwise i wouldn't be here would i) but in general.. si i am talking those ex j.ws in my community and we just dont get on.

  well ok its a bit of an exaggeration to say i don't get on with them, we just dont associate.

  this botherd me at first as i thought we would have much in common, but it wasn't so, and it's just the way it is.

  The only exjw's I know are on here, except DF'd people and I dont even know where they are. Most were into drugs and other things that dont interest me anyway. I am fine with being friends with whomever deserves it. You know, not negative, controlling or a Bible thumper.

  there was a brother in my congregation who was an elder.

  he got disfellowshipped about two years ago for looking at child porn and also trying to meet up with a thirteen year old boy online.

  he was also arrested soon after this.

  It is likely that more will come out on this guy as time goes on. Hopefully it will be things coming to light rather than new offences. Then he will be back in the greybar hotel again for an extended stay.

  I would have pulled out my cellphone and said "you have three seconds to identify yourself or I am calling 911". When she panicked and said, "I'm one of JW"s." I would have started there. Maybe I would have asked if she understood that she was entering your vehicle (inserting her arm without permission) illegally. She would have explained what she was talking about and apologized. Then I would have gone after her BS as you did. That would have taken her off her high horse. The hubris of these people. Anything for a check on the good dead page in heaven and New York.

  i have often laughed at public outpourings of emotion.

  just google mike schmidt"s retirement speech in which he loses it and blithers on about his career.

  completely douche chilling.. but to be honest, i had a moment recently when i literally balled my eyes out.

  When my mother, who busted her ass for these people, was ignored when she was dying. She gave of her time, abilities and belongings to support all the activities she was asked to take part in. She cooked for many, organized peoples wedding dinners and helped to comfort people when they were overcome by sadness. And they pissed on her by staying away as she became weaker and weaker from congestive heart failure. They NOT ONCE BROUGHT FOOD OVER TO HER FOR MY DAD OR HER AS SHE WAS TOO WEAK TO COOK. But once she was dead they rallied and a few brought food over for my dad, an unbeliever, so they could kiss his ass and have him join them in slavery. He told them to shove thier food up thier, well you know. He can't stand the phoneys. I sobbed for her being so mistreated. Such good friends.

  New DVD review

  i managed to catch the new dvd on youtube last night before the inevitable takedown.

  as a film i felt it wasn't anywhere near as good as the prodigal movie, the story wasn't as dramatic, the characters much less interesting and developed and the direction weaker.

  i found the prodigal relatively entertaining (all things considered) this one was just dull.. here are some of my random thoughts anyway [spoiler alert - ha!].

  Interestingly enough they do not include how admired this family would be by the other Witnesses. Thier freedom would be envied by most witnesses.

  How We Come Across On The Board

  most people here have never met you.

  we converse, discuss, argue, laugh, agree, question, share our lives..... quite often, you kind of get to know what a person is like.

  some people, we tend to gravitate to and others, we shy away from.. how do you think you come across to other people?

  I have a very sarcastic nature when it comes to many subjects here. I do not suffer fools lightly considering thats what I did for a living for 9 years as a pioneer. I am tired of being taken advantage of by people and don't put myself out for many people I don't know. I do care about people and am empathetic I just don't bend over backwards to relieve thier pain. It's their business not mine. I now know and respect my limitations. I am less trusting, but not overly so. I love to laugh and see the humor in most situations. I am not stupid nor do I aspire to "dumb myself down" to please the people I was once forced to have "mutual affection" for. Sorry but an ingnorant person by choice is no longer my type.

  When I heard him say "In this system of things" I had to turn it off. That fantasy is so far from reality for me I can't even listen to such foolishness. Sorry bout that. I'm sure someone will be helped to hear the BS.
